Frances Nelson KC was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1982. She became South Australia’s second female QC and Australia’s fourth female QC.

She is currently the Chair of the Parole Board.

She has been leader of the South Australian Bar since 2000. In addition to her legal practice, she has conducted over 1,800 mediations in South Australia and interstate.

In the year 2006, she was awarded the President’s Award in the USA in recognition of her work internationally in relation to parole.

She has been Chair of the Parole Board since 1983.
